Gratitude vs. Anxiety

(Between a Rock and a hard place)

  • The Israelites in the dessert did not recognize God’s presence and provision in the “Rock that accompanied them.” (1 Cor. 10:4)
  • Paul admonishes:
    • Rejoice in the Lord always
    • The Lord is near
    • Do not be anxious about anything
    • In everything be thankful
    • Peace of God will guard your heart and mind
    • Exemplified by Paul and Silas at peace in Philippi’s jail
  • Gratitude reminds our souls that God is God, God is here, God is in control
  • Gratitude is the source of congregational unity. (Colossians 3:15)
  • Rivers of living water will flow from that Rock
